Golf

Our beautiful Jack Nicklaus designed course will challenge the serious golfer and offer a pleasant golf experience to the casual player. The Country Club at Muirfield Village (TCCMV) offers a wide range of golf activities. In addition to the traditional men's and women's tournaments and very successful junior program, we also offer lessons, clinics and activities for the entire family. We have evening recreational play for women on Wednesday evenings and men on Thursday evenings. These programs were developed to provide a social and competitive outlet for many of our members who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate during the work week. Tee times are taken for our members up to seven days in advance to provide equal access for everyone to premium course tee times.

Golf Course Modernization Plan
In 2014, TCCMV began modernizing its Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course, completeing the third and final phase in 2019.

The modernization plan, as developed by architectural firm Nicklaus Design, called for the addition, removal, or restructuring of all fairway and greenside bunkers with the goal to:
  • Provide a new and challenging experience for golfers of all levels.
  • Enhance the overall aesthetic look and layout of the course.
  • Increase the risk/reward factor of well-played golf shots.
  • Embrace the newest technologies of bunker liners and sand to reduce maintenance costs after heavy rain, and to provide members with greater course access.
Phase I of the modernization plan began in the fall of 2014 with the redesign of 30 greenside bunkers and the practice facility bunker, the construction of a new lake on hole #17 and the addition of the top-of-the-line Better Billy Bunker liners, pro-angular sand, and bunker drainage system (intended to eliminate washouts by draining rainwater as it enters the bunkers).

After receiving rave reviews from the membership, with many stating that the Phase I renovations far exceeded their expectations, the club proceeded with Phase II, which included the same redesigning and modernizing of 53 fairway bunkers as well as the planting of 5.3 acres of tall fescue grasses, intended to reduce overall maintenance and provide an environmentally-friendly approach to caring for the golf course. Overall, the new bunkers have interesting and unique designs that enhance the aesthetic value of the course and challenge every level of golfer without being overly penal.

Beginning in the fall of 2018, the club embarked on Phase III of the modernization plan. This phase entailed installing a new state-of-the-art irrigation system that replaced the club’s original system. With the installation of 1600 irrigation heads, which can be controlled individually, a new pump station, and environmentally sensitive low water consumption, the club is now able to better maintain the turf in a more financially responsible and environmentally-friendly manner.

Although TCCMV has been a prestigious and familiar private club to the families of the Columbus community for 37 years, it now boasts a modern, updated facility that is enjoying unprecedented success.
